Waterperry Gardens - 8 miles

Made famous by Beatrix Haverggal who established her School of Horticulture for Ladies here from 1932 to 1971, it's now home to 8 acres of beautifully landscaped ornatmental gardens, a quality plant centre and garden shop, gallery and gift barn, museum and tea shop.

Waddesdon Manor - 14.1 miles

Explore this French Renaissance-style Chateau built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in 1874 to entertain the fashionable world and to house his collection of fine art. We're continuing the tradition today of entertainment and hospitality with events celebrating food and wine, and opportunities for you to explore our history, collections and gardens through changing exhibitions and special interest days.

Step back in time in the Victorian style gardens, gaze at flamboyant colours on the Parterre amid the ornate fountains and statuary. Unearth the rare and exotic birds housed in the roccoco style Aviary found in the heart of the Gardens.

Midsomer Murders - 14.3 miles

The real Midsomer Murders locations are spread across South Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire where towns and villages have names every bit as wonderful as their fictional counterparts. Fancy walking in the footsteps of Inspector Barnaby; enjoying a beer in the local pub or posing for photographs beside the church.

There are two self-drive and guide trails to ensure you see the most featured and picturesque locations that will seem oh-so familar. They include stately homes, parish churches, town and village buildings and more than a few hostelries. There are companies offering the option of guided Midsomer Murders tours, where you can sit back and enjoy the view as a knowledgable guide tells you everything you know.

Ashmolean Museum - 14.6 miles

The Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology is the world's first University Museum. It's first building was built in 1678 - 1683 to house the cabinet of curiosities that Elias Ashmole gave to the university of Oxford in 1677. The Museum reopened in 2009 after a major development. In November 2011 new galleries focusing on Egypt and Nubia were also unveiled.

Blenheim Palace - 18.8 miles

From the imposing Great Hall to the beautifully intricate state rooms, the palace balances delicate detail with ambitious architecture on the grandest scale. Stunning portraits, tapestries and an exquisite collection of furniture grace the palace interior, set against a magnificent backdrop of ornate ceilings and striking stone work.

The entrance to the palace sets the tone, leading you through glorious wooden doors into the Great Hall - one of Blenheim's architectural glories. With the picturesque landscape that appears natural but is in fact 'contrived to pleasing effect' including a huge 150 acre lake, Blenheim's parkland has a great deal to offer.

Hughenden Manor - 21.5 miles

Hughenden offers a vivid insight into the charismatic personality and colourful private life of the most unlikely Victorian Prime Minister, Benjamen Disraeli, who lived there from 1848 - 1881. You can browse among an extraodinary collection of memorabilia, and there's even a Victorian playroom for younger visitors.

The formal garden has been recreated based on the original designs of Mary Anne Disraeli and there are woodlands walks surrounding this Country home throughout our rolling parkland.

Basildon Park - 23.2 miles

A Georgian Mansion surrounded by parkland, was lovingly rescued by Lord and Lady Iliffe in the mid 1950's. The house you see today is a recreation and restoration of the 18th-century mansion. They restored the elegant interior and scoured the country salvaging 18th-century architectural fixtures and fittings. Make the most of your visit by treating yourself to a cream tea, experience the nostalgia of the 1950's kitchen, or stretch your legs following one of our waymarked trails through the 400 acres of historic parkland.
